DataSheet

LIQUI-HARD Concrete Densifier and Chemical Hardener Compound is a ready-to-use, colorless liquid, consisting of active chemicals that deeply penetrate the surface of concrete. LIQUI-HARD is specifically designed to produce hardened, dust-proofed and improved chemically resistant surfaces wherever it is applied. Sold by the pail. Size: 20 L.

Through a chemical reaction process, LIQUI-HARD penetrates progressively through the concrete and chemically solidifies all the component parts into a homogenous concrete mass. Besides its densifying and hardening action, LIQUI-HARD solidifies the concrete eliminating dusting, rotting and pitting.

LIQUI-HARD meets maximum VOC content limits of 400 g/L for Concrete Protective Coatings as required by the U.S. EPA Architectural Coatings Rule.

  • Penetrates deeply into concrete to densify and harden surfaces to prevent entry of moisture and other foreign matter
  • Dustproofs and improves chemical, petroleum and abrasion resistance of treated surfaces
  • Prevents oxidation of iron aggregate floors
  • Protects against scratching or peeling
  • Provides tough protected surface that won’t after-yellow, discolor or show pedestrian or vehicular traffic wear marks
  • Ready-to-use from container and easy-to-apply
  • VOC-compliant...actual VOC content is less than 100 g/L

LIQUI-HARD is recommended for use wherever hardening, dustproofing and improved chemically resistant surfaces are required. Ideal applications include floors in industrial plants and warehouses, storage silos, sewage plants, chemical processing facilities, refineries and heavy pedestrian floor traffic areas such as civic centers, sports arenas, stadiums, hospitals, airports and museums. It also provides an excellent protective treatment for preventing oxidation of iron aggregate floors.

Application Rate sq. ft./gal.

  • Broomed:200-300
  • Troweled:300-500
  • Fresh:200-300
  • Old:150-250

For New Concrete: On newly placed concrete, LIQUI-HARD can be applied, as you would a cure, after final troweling.

For Existing Concrete: Surfaces should be clean and structurally sound. Remove all residue, oil, sealers, waxes, contaminants and laitance. ULTRITE DEGREASER from W. R. MEADOWS may be used (Refer to Product Data Sheet Number 353). Fill and repair all holes, cracks and deteriorated areas to sound concrete.

Mixing: For optimum performance, gentle mixing or agitation is recommended.

Application Method (for NEW and EXISTING concrete surfaces)...Saturate surface with undiluted LIQUI-HARD by sprayer, squeegee or brooming. While keeping surfaces wet with LIQUI-HARD, scrub surface with a bristle broom or mechanical scrubber until material gels (approx. 45 minutes). Spray material lightly with water. Continue to work it into the surface for another 5 to 10 minutes. Flush surface with water, removing any excess material with mop or squeegee. On porous surfaces, repeat with a second application as above.

WARNING: Failure to thoroughly wash and remove all excess material from floor surfaces may result in unsightly white stains. Immediately wash off over-spray from glass, aluminum, or highly polished surfaces with water to avoid etching of surfaces.

Drying Time:2 to 4 hours. LIQUI-HARD dries very quickly on new, virgin concrete. Drying times may be extended on old concrete due to surface conditions. Restrict foot traffic for at least 4 hours, 12 hours is preferable.

Clean Up: While still wet, equipment may be cleaned quickly and easily with soap and water. Do not allow LIQUI-HARD to dry before flushing excess from surfaces.

Precautions

DO NOT DILUTE. Do not apply if the temperature of the concrete is less than 35ºF (2ºC) or above 135ºF (57ºC). KEEP FROM FREEZING.

LIQUI-HARD is non-combustible (flash point is greater than 210ºF). Direct contact will result in irritation of the skin and eyes. Inhalation of product mist may result in respiratory irritation.
